Julie
Lawrence, Director of the Julie Lawrence Yoga Center and certified
Iyengar Yoga instructor since 1984, has studied directly with the Iyengars
in India many times. Julie's clarity and precision coupled with humor
and encouragement create a rewarding class. She teaches yoga, her life-long
love, as a transformative practice.
Jane
Carlsen teaches yoga as a means of self-exploration, using asana
practice as a laboratory to understand the workings of our minds and bodies.
She loves yoga for the way it teaches us to face each moment with focus,
balance, flexibility and a sense of fun.
Cathleen
Dehen has been teaching Iyengar style yoga for 17 years, 14 years
at JLYC. Her clear and detailed instructions coupled with her gentle style
of teaching enable her to guide her students toward a deeper sense of
well being. Cathleen's style is enthusiastic and supportive.
Tonya
Garreaud is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor who has been
practicing yoga since 1989, and teaching since 1999. She has studied with
both BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar on their teaching visits to the US
and has traveled to India to study with the Iyengar family. Tonya's enthusiasm
for yoga is obvious in her teaching. She gives clear instructions and
creates a class that emphasizes a systematic and precise approach to yoga.
Cindy
Irvine has been teaching yoga since 2000, and recently passed
her Iyengar Yoga Teacher-in-Training test. She has been studying with
Iyengar teachers for over a decade. Combining precision, love, and laughter
when teaching, she has found Iyengar yoga to be an invaluable tool for
physical and emotional health.
Ed
Miller, a student of yoga since the early 1980’s, began
teaching in 1989 while still in corporate America. His training encompasses
several schools of yoga but his passion and teaching focus on the Iyengar
style. Participants in Ed’s classes report experiencing instructional
clarity and individual attention with compassion, supporting improvement
of both their yoga practice and enhancement of personal well being
Terry
Petersen has been practicing Iyengar yoga for 14 years and is
a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. His classes are inspiring, challenging,
and respectful of each student's abilities. Terry uses clear instruction
and graceful demonstrations to create an outstanding class environment
for learning.
Barbara
Steif has been inspired by the balance, clarity and wisdom of
Iyengar yoga for 13 years. She completed her teacher training and apprenticeship
with Julie Lawrence. She recently passed her Iyengar Yoga Teacher-in-Training
test. She brings aliveness, warmth, and depth of understanding to her
teaching.
